Clay County Sheriff Terry Miller reports:
On July 3rd at approximately 1:30 am Clay County Deputies initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle traveling on County Road 508. Deputies made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Karen Jestus 48-year-old of Kennett, Missouri. Ms. Jestus provided deputies with her driver’s license advised that she was lost. A warrant check on Ms. Jestus confirmed that she had a felony warrant out of Dunklin County Missouri. Ms. Jestus was then placed in custody. A search of Ms. Jestus’s property and persons and discovered partially smoked suspect marijuana cigarettes, prescription medication wrapped in a paper towel, several bags of white powdery substance, and a burnt piece of foil. Ms. Jestus was then transported to the Clay County Detention Center on the charges of Possession of cocaine less than 2 grams, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Possession of marijuana, Possession of drug paraphernalia, no proof of liability insurance, Possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and endangering the welfare of a minor. The juvenile child in the vehicle was turned over to DHS custody. Bond has not been set for Ms. Jestus at this time.
